Cream Cheese and Parmesan Asparagus Cigars
Elegant, yet simple to make, these asparagus cigars make a fun — and hearty — appetizer.
(Makes 10 Cigars)
- 5 oz. ready-made puff pastry
- Flour, for dusting
- 1 oz. cream cheese
- 10 asparagus spears
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Preheat oven to 400°.
Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface into a 6″ x 10″ rectangle and spread all over with the cream cheese.
Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into 10 long, thin strips.
- Wrap one pastry strip in a spiral around each asparagus spear and place onto a baking tray. Lightly brush each with beaten egg then scatter the
- Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake the cigars in the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the pastry has risen and is golden-brown.
